Liebherr LHM 550 Mobile harbour crane
Product Feature
With an outreach of 54 metres, the LHM 550 is the perfect crane for handling bulk cargoes in the Capesize ship class. For container handling ships of the New-Panamax class are the optimal working environment for the LHM 550. General cargoes and heavy-duty lifting up to 144 tonnes complete the range of applications of this crane type.
Stage IV / Tier 4 final engine
The individual wheel sets of the LHM undercarriage enable movement in all directions and thus 360-degree mobility.
X-shaped support base
The star-shaped supporting base reduces the torsion strain on the steel structure, enhances the service life of the slewing ring and guarantees optimal vertical stability during operation.
Supporting pads
The standard version of the crane has four supporting pads (5.5 metre x 1.8 metre).
3-point support
The hydraulic combination of the wheel sets in three groups prevents overloading of the individual wheel sets and the ground. The grouping also ensures maximum stability when manoeuvring the crane.
Individual wheel sets
All wheel sets are steerable and have load balancing. Ground pressures of six tonnes for each wheel are not exceeded. Accessibility from all sides guarantees easy maintenance.
4-chord boom
The four struts (lattice design) of the boom provide maximum stability and handle the sideways pull better than alternative boom designs. This results in a longer service life.
Lighting
Operation without a loss of productivity is also possible when it is dark. High-performance LED headlights at the boom and tower provide optimal lighting.
Slewing mechanism
The LHM 550 has three slewing mechanisms connected in parallel. The loads for the slewing ring are reduced to a minimum.
Enclosed tower design
The enclosed design of the tower gives the crane operator secure and weather-protected access to the tower cab.
Glass fibre reinforced plastic
The machine housing panels are made from glass fibre reinforced plastic. The advantages include low weight and resistance to rust.
Tail swing radius
The tail swing is within the support base for all crane types in the LHM series. The risk of collision with passing machines is thus avoided. The crane operator can concentrate solely on his work.
Horizontal load path
During luffing the load always moves along the horizontal load path.
Hoist mechanism
The lifting and lowering movements up to the maximum load capacity are effected steplessly, i.e. without changing gears. The lifting speed is up to 120 metres per minute.
Cooling
The speed of the special Howden coolers is automatically adapted to cooling requirements. As a result, diesel consumption and noise levels are reduced to a minimum and the service life is maximised.
Paintwork
To defy the rough maritime environmental conditions, the standard paintwork comprises a primer coat, an intermediate coat and a top coat.
Litronic crane control
The control system of the mobile harbour crane range, which was developed by Liebherr, focuses on precision, safety and productivity. Obtain a detailed overview here.
Machine housing concept
The single-storey slewing platform houses the drive unit, slewing mechanisms and hoist mechanisms, the control cabinet room and the alternator. All components are easily accessible for maintenance work.
Emergency descent
The emergency descent leads from the cab along the tower to the ground. If the conventional descent is not accessible, the operator can get to safety at any time using the emergency descent.
Round tower design
The round tower design minimises damage caused by torsion. Forces are evenly distributed to the steel structure and the slewing ring. As a result, the service life of the crane is increased significantly.
Control cabinet room
All electric and electronic components used satisfy military standards. External environmental conditions have no impact on the functionality. The entire system was developed for the maritime environment with temperatures from -40°C to +80°C.
Slack rope protection
A slack rope protection device is mounted on the winch frame. The winding on the winch is effected evenly, and the hoist rope is always kept taut.
Service network
Like all maritime cranes from Liebherr, our mobile harbour crane can rely on a dense service network worldwide. This ensures short downtimes and a quick response.
Tower cab position
Optimal views for the operator. The forward-mounting position of the tower cab with 70% glass (safety glass) offers the driver a comprehensive visibility range.
Accessibility
Regular servicing maintains the efficiency of the crane. So maintenance work can be carried out quickly, the accessibility of the relevant components is to the fore. This reduces downtimes.
